Oris – Moderately Priced Swiss-made Watches

For the watch afficionado or folks with interest in horology, Oris is a familiar name, but not so for the lay person looking for a simple wristwatch. This is not surprising though, because Oris is a luxury watch brand whose USP is the “Swiss-made” tag. Ever since its inception in 1904, the Oris brand has carved a reputation for itself as a Swiss watch company making quality mechanical watches. In fact, Oris makes only mechanical watches and it is one among very few companies to do so.

I wouldn’t call myself an afficionado but I do love watches and have enough knowledge to know that a truly Swiss made luxury watch is way out of my budget. However, not all Swiss made brands are out of reach for the consumers. Some, like Oris, make luxury watches that are affordable timepieces for fans like me.

The Oris brand has earned the trust of patrons and fans by ensuring that their timepieces are built to last since they use the best quality materials and adhere to stringent Swiss watchmaking standards. What I love about Oris watches is that, although they are not cheap, they are not as expensive as other luxury brands. In terms of quality, Oris is comparable to other Swiss companies like Longines or Tag Heuer.

The Oris watch collections come in four categories namely, diving, aviation, culture and motor sport. Oris Aquis Watch is a part of the Diving collection while the Oris Artelier watch is part of the culture collection. The Oris Big Crown Propilot features in the Aviation collection while the Motorsport collection features some trendy timepieces that set the standards for other brands to follow.

My sights were set on the Oris Artelier Complication 01 781 7729 4051-07 5 21 66FC Automatic Men’s Watch that I saw on the Creation Watches website (https://www.creationwatches.sg). This is an elegant timepiece with chronograph function and moon phase. The white dial looks neat and is covered with a sapphire crystal which, as we know is the best scratch resistant material that can be used in a watch.

Three sub dials denoting the day and date along with the 24-hour format lend some detailing to the otherwise plain dial. Stylish hour markers also add their own charm to the overall great looks of this watch.

I’d recommend an Oris to anyone wanting to own a Swiss made watch – at the price point you get to wear a Swiss made watch that is sure to turn out to be a great investment.

Creation Watches, an online watch store has several timepieces from the Oris collection that might appeal to the watch lover in you. Go ahead and take a look at their offerings, I’m sure you’ll find a timepiece of your choice.
