G-Shock watches were originally designed as shock-resistant digital watches for men. The watch was built to survive electric shocks, vibrations, gravity and extremes of temperature. Casio had truly created a watch that never breaks. In fact, it won the title of the world’s toughest watch and made it to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Casio G-Shock Military Matte Black GA-100-1A1 Men’s Watch is an extremely popular watch from Casio’s G-Shock series. It’s large and bulky case (case diameter 51 mm) gives it a craggy look and it is built like a tank. I had got this watch for a friend who works in the police force. When the watch arrived, I was amazed at how light it felt considering its large dimensions. The product details specified 70gm weight which I suspected had much to do with the materials used. The case material is resin while the strap is polyurethane, both light weight but strong.
Casio GA-100-1A1 is from the G-Shock Analog-Digital series of watches which means it has both analog and digital display. The dial is grey with contrasting white hands and markers. The watch may appear a bit cluttered and for some folks, the dark face may make it difficult to read the time. There is an auto LED light with an afterglow for low light conditions although some would argue that it isn’t helpful to read the digital display in the dark.
However, it is meant to be a stealth watch and is favoured particularly by military personnel, people in law enforcement, construction and warehousing. It is also quite popular with adventure sportsmen simply because of its multiple features. Not only is it shock and magnetic resistant, it boasts of 200m water resistance as well.
